Halloween Fun: Half Day  Program

This 3 hour program has a little bit of everything for your elementary-age child. We will get some writing in as students observe and help carve a pumpkin. They’ll learn about adjectives and write a how to piece on carving a pumpkin. Pumpkin seeds will be used to cover math concepts such as estimating, counting, and multiplying. Students will take some seeds and a recipe home to make a tasty treat. Then, we’ll learn a little history during a fun Halloween read aloud while enjoying a snack brought from home and/or a healthy “spooky snack” they’ll help make. We’ll also be learning a little about mummies before a fun mummy activity that is sure to get many “wrapped up” in this activity. Our program will end with a “Spooky Science” sampler where we’ll do a few science experiments using dry ice. If your child loves Halloween, this fun educational program is for them!

Spooky Spiders & Spider Science

In this 90 minute program, students will listen to a read aloud about a spider that went to space. They will then learn about the different webs spiders can create before creating their own spider web to take home. If your child is curious about these creepy crawlers, they will enjoy this informational and crafty class!

Cost: $35

Spooky Story Writing

This 90 minute program will give your child the tools they need to write their very own spooky story. We will start by brainstorming the setting, characters, and problems that could be used to create a spooky story. The instructor will model a spooky story before students plan their own story using a graphic organizer. Your child’s writing stamina and pace will determine how far they get in the writing process. Some students may leave with a great plan and a start to their story, while others may leave with a finished draft. We will share our stories, or parts of our stories, as time allows. If your child enjoys writing and wants to learn how to write a spooky story, this class is for them!
*Beginner/younger writers are welcome to join this class and their stories will be created using mostly drawings and oral storytelling.
